Nobody buys one shirt.

A man who needs a shirt needs three or four that can follow each other through a week without anyone noticing the pattern. That rotation is what we stock around.

Men's Collection

Everyday shirts & knit polos

Cotton button-downs and soft knit collars in quiet, wearable colours — built for the office, the weekend and everything between.

Shop all men's tops

The question we ask is not whether a shirt is good. It is whether it makes the rest of them easier to wear.

Good shirts, ready for every day.

Liquisolv is a men's shirt shop that runs online. We stock button-front woven shirts and knit polos, in a size run that covers most builds. Everything on the site is ready-made stock, held here and shipped from Vernon, Connecticut.

The shirt worn on Tuesday has to sit next to the one from Monday and the one waiting for Thursday. A piece can be interesting on its own and still be wrong here, because it fights the shirts already on the site.

A shirt that only works when everything else in the closet gets out of its way is a shirt that gets worn twice.

Woven and knit do different jobs.

Man in a structured woven shirt with an upright collar under a jacket

The woven shirt

Holds a line
Built from
Flat cloth, threads crossing at right angles
Collar
A stand with interlining: upright under a jacket, frames the neck with the top button open
Placket
Full length, closed for one occasion, open over a tee for another
Good at
Structure and a clean shoulder line
The trade
It creases. Structure and wrinkles arrive together.
Man in a soft knit polo, seated comfortably on a long afternoon

The knit polo

Moves with you
Built from
Loops of yarn that stretch with the body and spring back
Collar
Ribbed rather than fused
Placket
Stops after two or three buttons
Good at
A warm room, a long drive, an afternoon spent sitting
The trade
It won't hold a sharp line at the shoulder.

A knit and a woven marked with the same letter do not measure the same way.

The Four Places a Shirt Wears Out First
